[comix] UPCOMING FROM L'ASSOCIATION
From Bart Beaty, courtesy of
The Comics Journal Message Board:
L'Association sent around their latest update and since this stuff never really finds its way to these parts, I thought I'd summarize what they're doing for the rest of the year.
August -
Persepolis 4 by Marjane Satrapi. Final book in the series, which is being pre-published right now in
Liberation.
September - Matti Hagelberg:
Le Sultan de Vénus. 108 pages of inexplicable strangeness from the Finnish master of disaster.
Also in September, four from the
Collection Mimolette (small, US comic book sized books) by Vincent Vanoli, Denis Jourdin, Francois Ayroles (looks like a collection of his talking strips from
Lapin, which I love), and Mélaka (who?)
October -
L'Ascension du Haut-Mal. 88 pages. It's finally coming.
Also, Joann Sfar gives us
Piano, probably about 400 pages, just so that he can publish more than 1000 pages of diary comics in 2003 (not a joke)
Lewis Trondheim presents
Bleu, 40 pages of experimental non-figurative comics, likely akin to what he published in
Bile Noire 13 which came out last month.
November -
OuBaPo 4. I'm writing something on OuBaPo for TCJ right this very minute (no, really, I'm half done). Should I wait?
Also,
Quimby the Mouse translation from Ware and Massimo Mattioli translation of
M. le Magicien
For 2004, some highlights will include:
The second edition of
Chemin de Saint-Jean by Baudoin, now with 40 additional pages. A new Dominique Goblet book in May (
Faire Semblant c'est mentir) and a 365-page diary comic from Julie Doucet. Plus L'Association goes to India, and a new collection (
Archives) will dredge up the past of the six founding members, starting with Stanislas. Baudoin's
Futuropolis books will be brought back into print. Plus new books from Woodring, Blanquet, Max Andersson, J-C Forest, Lewis Trondheim and on and on and on.
