Owly
by Andy Runton
Owly is a kind, yet lonely, little owl who's always on the search for new friends and adventure. The first graphic novel in the series contains two enchanting novellas, "The Way Home" & "The Bittersweet Summer," wherein Owly discovers the meaning of friendship, and that saying goodbye doesn't always mean forever. Relying on a mixture of symbols, icons, and expressions to tell his silent stories, Runton's clean, animated, and heartwarming style makes it a perfect read for anyone who's a fan of Jeff Smith's Bone, Mike Kunkel's Herobear and the Kid, or Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants. Don't miss the next big thing in comics! This beautifully rendered and touching story will be the first actual graphic novel series from Top Shelf.
-- $10.00 (US), 120 pages, Graphic Novel, ISBN 1-891830-62-7

ROB VENDITTI GOES FULL TIME
Top Shelf would like to welcome aboard our first ever, full-time employee, Rob Venditti. Rob began working part-time for Top Shelf on April 3rd, 2002, during the "twelve-hour miracle," when he helped pack the thousand orders that came in that day. But as of July 1st, he's our first permanent staffer.

Also an aspiring comics writer, Rob gave his script for The Surrogates to us and asked our advice on marketing it to more mainstream publishers. But after reading it, we were so impressed that we did one better: having long been on the lookout for a mainstream project worthy of bearing the Top Shelf logo, we decided to keep The Surrogates for ourselves. Look for The Surrogates in the Spring of 2005, and click here to read all about it:
