The Beguiling:
The Alliance Française, and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura present an outstanding array of international cartoonists in their new two-part exhibit running from January 21st to February the 27th, with the opening night reception this Wednesday evening, the 20th.
The exhibit features original art pieces from a number of creator names you should be familiar with (as they all have works available in English translation), including Thomas Ott (
T.Ott,
Dead End), Nicolas Robel (
Drawn & Quarterly New Talent Showcase), and Pierre Wazem (
Like a River from Humanoids Publishing). In addition, the exhibit also features work from many cartoonists whose work we stock that is not in translation (but still sells quite well), including Alex Baladi, Frederik Peeters, Tom Tirabosco, and Anna Sommer.
This two-part free exhibit runs January 21 to February 27 at
Alliance Française, 24 Spadina Rd., 416-922-2014; and at the
Istituto Italiano di Cultura, 496 Huron St., 416-921-3802. The exhibit opens on Wednesday, January 20th at 7pm. Admittance for the opening is free, but dress is business casual to semi-formal.
