Stop the presses, hold the back page... Eisner and Ignatz Award-nominated comic book
Fred the Clown returns in March 2004.
Fred the Clown #5 is in the latest issue of
Previews, the one arriving in stores on December 24th, so you can pre-order it once you recover from your Christmas hangover. In this issue there's the usual combination of short, snappy, self-contained pieces, some of which have appeared on the internet, some of which are appearing here for the very first time, but all of which have never previously been stamped onto a dead tree with staples rammed through it. Here are a few of them:
* Nowhere Special - in which Fred and his hirsute banana-loving companion find an oasis of calm in a sea of troubles, only to ruin it almost immediately
* Calendar Boy - in which our hero doggedly pursues the object of his affections over twelve lavishly illustrated months, in flagrant violation of that silly old restraining order
* Where The Smart Things Ain't - Maurice Sendak would do somersaults in his grave, particularly as he isn't dead
Plus a bunch of other stuff!
The Hotel Fred website will be taking preorders for the convenience of those of you without easy access to a comical book store – visit
