Graphic Music: Songs Inspired by Comics

The first record of its kind (that we know of),
Graphic Music is an entire album of original songs inspired by a wide variety of comics (from
Love & Rockets to
Mister Miracle). Sure there have been successful movie soundtracks for comic book-based films like
Blade,
X-Men,
Spider-man etc., but those mostly featured existing songs cherrypicked for the compilation and/or songs specifically written for the soundtracks that, at best, had only the most peripheral connection to comics.
Graphic Music features ten original songs, each clearly inspired by a comic and/or aspect of the comics medium. Each composed by Jung Robot. If you want influences or tenuous comparisons: Nine Inch Nails, Chemical Brothers, The Pixies, Aphex Twin, and The Prodigy might be a decent start.
Granted,
Graphic Music isn’t for everyone, but then innovative music never is. As the Jung Robot motto goes, "Music to Enjoy/Music To Annoy". Which reaction will you have? You won’t know until you give it a listen. The CD will be debuting at SPX 2003 and almost simultaneously at the Bumbershoot Music/Zine Fest in Seattle. Jung Robot will be on hand at the
TCI table at SPX and also at the subsequent Baltimore ComiCon.
