The Cartoon Art Museum on August 23. The lecture is free with the $6.00 admission to the museum.
The purpose of the lecture will be to give a history of the independent press, how it reached the current form of zine, the nuts and bolts of putting together your own zine and what to do with it once it is published. Topics covered include retailer info, how and where to get reviewed, how to copyright your material, protecting your identity, how to get your zine into libraries across the planet, distros and conventions and where to go for further information. Each attendee will get a student guide to take with them with a printed form of most of the information from the lecture and a free comic book. The lecture is geared towards someone who has never seen or heard of a zine, but meant to provide information for even veterans of independent publishing.
