[comix] INSIDE VINEYLAND
DEBUT, WORLD TOUR
NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, New York, June 1, 2003: New York cartoonist Lauren R. Weinstein’s Xeric Foundation grant award-winning graphic collection,
Inside Vineyland (ISBN 1-891867-44-X; Diamond Code JAN03 1894) will be hitting stores this August. Before that, she will be making numerous appearances all over North America and beyond, both as cartoonist and chanteuse. Fans will have a chance to meet Weinstein and see the book as she tours with the rest of the cartoonists in the latest volume of the comics anthology
Kramers Ergot (ISBN 0-9677989-5-7; Diamond Code: MAY031913). In addition to being a great cartoonist, Weinstein is also a fabulous blond diva in
Flaming Fire, the world’s best Greco-electro chant-rock band, which recently released their second album,
Songs From the Shining Temple.
Inside Vineyland contains forty of Weinstein’s finest works, many originally published in Seattle’s legendary
Stranger. Each comic is just one page long – perfect for the bathroom, the subway, or watching TV. You will be amazed by such mind-blowing classics as “The Bird War” and “The Manic Depressive Dogs”. You will be embarrassed by the “Wacky Packages”-inspired ad, “Charmley: For Your Poor Ass”. You will ask “Huh?” in wonder as you gaze at “Self-Visualization Activities”. An extended bonus story is also included, telling of a robot’s troubled quest for love as he's torn between his lust for electrical devices and his duty to serve humans! By Lauren R. Weinstein, Deluxe graphic novel, Mature Readers, 72 pages, $5.95. ISBN: 1-891867-44-X.
Inside Vineyland will be sub-distributed by Alternative Comics.
Featuring the very best in alternative comics, the full color, oversized new volume of
Kramers Ergot promises to be the anthology of 2003, if not the book of the year. Showcasing upcoming new talents side by side with established creators;
Kramers Ergot stands to challenge every other book on the shelf. Oversized, over 300 pages, in full color, and immaculately designed, it includes new color works from: Lauren R. Weinstein, Renee French, Ron Rege Jr., Mat Brinkman, Anders Nilsen, David Lasky, Genevieve Castree, Souther Salazar, Ben Jones, Jeff Brown, Marc Bell, Josh Simmons, Sammy Harkham, Jim Drain, David Heatley, and many more. It has to be seen to be believed. Not to be missed! Edited by Sammy Harkham, full color, Deluxe graphic novel, Mature Readers, 340 pages, 9” x 11”; $24.95; ISBN: 0-9677989-5-7.
